I am in no way defending the neo-con, war mongering, police state cheerleaders over at the NRA. However, I am adamantly opposed to any law that makes criminals of people who have made victims of no one or in any way hinders my natural right to live my life freely or to defend my life and property

We can pretty be certain that the author took some history classes in school, however perhaps he didn't pay much attention. Regardless, he obviously missed in one capacity or another every lesson concerning all the tyrannical governments that have risen throughout history. Or all of the instances of a much smaller, but determined minority fighting back and winning against a much more capable military. The strongest military in the world couldn't keep 13 colonies from seceding and all the bombs and jets and war tech in the world didn't win us Vietnam. It's not something that will probably happen in our lifetime, or perhaps even our children's.. but to think it never could is simply ignorant at best, but more likely just idiotic.

The author may also want to brush up on his linguistics. The phrase, "well regulated", in the late 18th century was not referring to government oversight and control. It quite literally meant, well trained.

If you don't have the imagination to think of a scenario where a gun in the hands of an innocent citizen could deter a crime, or cut short what would otherwise be another horrible mass shooting, perhaps you should ask any one of the over 2 million people who use firearms in self defense every year.

Apparently the author has never heard of fingerprint lock safes. Problem of having guns safely in the classroom while still giving teachers the ability to defend themselves and their students: solved.

The NRA is absurd in their proposals to have armed guards in our schools and our guns dismantled in our homes. I want innocent civilians to keep their right to defend themselves, not live in a police state. And, as the author points out, what good is a disassembled weapon going to be if your home is invaded? I'd rather keep my gun all put together, loaded, and ready to go... safe in a finger print lock safe right next to my bed.
