This should not be a difficult subject or decision to make. It’s simple. Our children must be protected regardless of cost or circumstance. No exceptions.

First off, are there any teachers who would be willing to arm themselves in the classroom. I bet there are, I know there are. Besides protecting the children they are protecting themselves, other teachers, administrators and support staff. We know from Newtown and the other the tragic shootings, everyone in the building is at risk. Would this distract from teaching and learning. No. There is no need for lengthy discussion about who has a gun and who doesn’t. Make it known. Police in schools, yes. Many high schools already have police presence on a daily basis and it works as a deterrent, but it is it enough? One officer may not be enough. When seconds count even under the best response times, the police are minutes away.
