Catch an early flick: Taking in dinner and a movie at the Beach Theater

May 28, 2009
Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer
Calling all movie buffs, if you’re looking for an evening full of fun, food and film, look no further than the Beach Theater. This distinctive movie theater has been open for six years, making a name for itself as one of the best places to catch a flick and grab a bite of great food at the same time. The Beach Theater has mass appeal, to both locals and tourists. “Everyone is always so excited when they come into the theater,” said Karen Cook, theater manager. “The tourists say ‘I wish we had one of these at home.’” The Beach Theater offers its patrons a more intimate environment. The theater gets most of the big box office movies, and the atmosphere is perfect for anyone who doesn’t like the feeling of being crowded in a theater. “We have a total of 260 seats. Our two larger theaters hold 96 seats each, while the smaller ones hold 46,” Cook said. The hallmark of the theater is that movie-goers can order food from the menu while watching a movie, with it delivered right to their table. The dishes served at the Beach Theater range from pizza and burgers to appetizers and salad - and house specialty - quesadillas. And of course the theater serves popcorn, a movie watching staple. The Beach Theater is located at 6425 Estero Blvd. For more information and for a list of show times, call 765-9000 or visit
