John Wesley Ward, 43, of Fort Myers passed away Feb. 5, 2010. He was in a tragic helicopter accident in the Dominican Republic while serving the people of Haiti in a relief mission.
Ward was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, but spent most of his life in Florida, specifically Fort Myers and the Florida Keys. He was a man of many talents; throughout his life he was involved in the fishing industry and the restaurant business. Most recently he worked as a pilot.
Ward is survived by his wife, Dawn (Holke) Ward; sons Wyatt and Frankie; mother Naomi (Dillow) Ward of Fort Myers; brother Dale Sexton of South Shore, KY; sister Wendy Pistole of Stout, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

Everyone knew John as a devoted father and family man. He was a loyal friend who would sacrifice for anyone in need. He had a deep love for the Lord and that showed in the way he loved others.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Community Church, 4050 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33966 on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 2 p.m. Contributions can be made to the John Ward Memorial Fund at any TIB Bank location or checks may be made out to John Ward Memorial Fund and mailed to TIB Bank, P.O.
