Welcome back, Snowbirds! Third annual Snowbird Festival this Sunday

November 26, 2010

For the third year in a row, the Yucatan Beach Stand is proud to host its annual Snowbird Festival Sunday, Nov. 28, from noon to 8 p.m. in the restaurant's parking lot, 250 Old San Carlos Blvd. The celebration promises to be fun for the whole family, with prizes, games, fun, food and more, and will be benefitting the Ostego Bay Marine Science Center.

"The Snowbird Festival is a welcome-back party to all of our seasonal guests/residents to the area, and kind of a kick-off party for the Fort Myers Beach businesses looking forward to a great season," said Stephen DeAngelis, general manager of the Yucatan. "It's hard to believe this is our third year of annual festivals benefitting local non-profits primarily environmental."

During the festival, more than 30 vendors will show off their stuff, from handcrafted jewelry and clothing to arts, crafts, local businesses displaying their services and more.

"This year, we have even more vendors than any of our previous festivals," Stephen said. "Many of the items are great for holiday gift-giving, with reasonably priced jewelry, art, crafts and so much more."

Also going on during the festival will be an array of entertainment, with live music from Al Holland, formerly of The Platters, John Friday, DL Turner and Free Spirit, as well as live and up-close magic with Magic Frank, face-painting, games for kids (and adults) of all ages, food and drink specials, 50/50s, raffles, prizes, giveaways and more.

Since the Ostego Bay Marine Science Center is the benefactor of this festival, they will have a tent set up at the event as well, bringing awareness about our local ecosystem and the plant life and animal life that lives within it.
