Irma Ellison Walker of Fort Myers passed away on Feb. 1, 2011, at the age of 95. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Gordon Charles Walker. She is survived by her daughters, Lynn Walker; Susan Golden (Michael); Jane Walker; and Wendy Klug (Jeffrey). She is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Allison Tomasaukas (Charles); Gordon Digby; Charles Digby (Meg); Benjamin Golden (Kristal); John Golden; Kathryn Golden; Marie Golden; Sara Kennedy (Christopher); Matthew Henry; and two great-grandchildren.
She was an active member of Chapel by the Sea and Kiwanis International of Fort Myers Beach. A world traveler with her husband and dear friends, she visited every continent except Africa and Antarctica. She will be remembered by family and friends alike as someone who was strong in faith, generous at heart, optimistic, courageous, compassionate, outgoing, witty and loyal. Her strength of character throughout her entire life is the example that we, her family, strive to follow.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Chapel By The Sea. A reception will follow immediately after the service at Silver Hall, Chapel By The Sea. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Chapel By The Sea, 100 Chapel Street, Fort Myers Beach, FL 33932.
