If you'd like to clear up a computer issue or feel more comfortable with using the computer, consider pre-registering for the class on Sept. 29. Indicate a concern/topic you'd like to see addressed when you sign up, so that preparation can be done and included in the class.
The Friends of the Library will be participating in the October Bash at Bay Oaks. We can also share details of the library construction so far and what to expect in the coming months. A lot of improvements have been done in the past few months and knowing about it may aid in your appreciation as there are so many ways our community can grow.
Families and children are invited to the Preschool Story Hour on Oct. 5, at 10:30 a.m. Local actress and writer Keri Hendry-who will perform the role of Anne Bonny in the Orpheus Players' upcoming production of 'Sisters of the Sea', a historically accurate play about the lives of famous female pirates Anne Bonny and Mary Read-will tell stories about Anne's life of adventure as a pirate.
A new display near the first floor catalog stations is available for your viewing and pleasure. Featured are Owls. There are a variety of creations that feature various owls and made possible from the collection of Betsy Mangan.
Forms are going into place and within days concrete will be poured for the walls of the parking area under the expansion and the first floor of the structure. It's exciting that we are this far. We are on schedule!
News titles just added that concentrate on how modern science was shaped include "What is Atomic Theory?" (J 539.7 MCL), "What is the Theory of Plate Tectonics?" (J 551.13 SAU) and "What is Cell Theory?" (J 571.6 COH). Each of the titles are packed with details for the advanced elementary student but also one which an adult can get a lot from. The colorful photos, sidebars and illustrations enable the reader to concentrate on many aspects in a single setting. It's a valuable study for parent and children to explore together.
There's a link on our homepage www.fmb.lib.fl.us that is titled 'Florida Electronic Library.' If you haven't looked at this recently, check it out. It's a storehouse of a wealth of information on many topics. Click on the Florida Electronic Library link. Then click on the 'view all resources' link under the search box. This yields an alphabetical listing of icons highlighting the various databases, e.g. one is called 'Business Index.' Clicking on this link produces a search box. Say one types in 'google' and the results search offers a variety of articles that have appeared regarding google starting with the most recent first.
