Five very talented local musicians have recently joined hands (and guitars, drums and keyboards) in creating one fabulous force of a rock band known as Daizy Chain.
Comprised of Daizy Aimless (lead vocals), John Hyatt (lead guitar), Cindy Frania (guitar, vocals), Dave Frania (keyboard, bass, vocals) and Rob Oney (drums, percussion, vocals), the all-new Daizy Chain, even though only coming together just a few months ago, really hit the ground running, regularly rocking throughout Fort Myers Beach and the surrounding area almost nightly.
"We're so excited to be performing together," said lead singer Daizy. "We really love what we do."
Daizy Chain, comprised of five very talented and local musicians, is one of the newest groups around town. The all-new band performs a variety of high-energy rock that combines great keyboard and guitar tracks with amazing drums, percussion and vocals. You can catch the group at Castaway’s Wednesdays and Fridays, as well as several other hot spots around town. Photo by MELISSA SCHNEIDER.
The group currently performs primarily cover songs, consisting of anything from The Rolling Stones, Joan Jett and Van Halen to Matchbox 20, Maroon 5, the Foo Fighters and everything in between, and plans to release some roaring originals soon.
"We perform a variety of styles, consisting of classic rock, pop and all your favorite dance songs, too!" Daizy said. "We're influenced by all the great classic artists, like Journey, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac and Crosby Stills and Nash."
Meet the band
Talent flows through these musicians' veins, turning their craft and musical skill into full-time careers. Knowing of one another through our fabulous Southwest Florida rock circuit, these five musicians really came together during Tag Graves' benefit at Valerie's Lounge, when they decided to meet again sometime for a jam session.
"The result was a sound that we couldn't ignore," Daizy said. "After getting together a couple more times, the result was magical, so we decided to merge and created Daizy Chain."
Lead singer Daizy and her powerful voice have traveled the country and the world with such groups as Molly Hatchet, Bob Seger and Rick Derringer. Her vocals are perfectly matched by her high energy on stage.
Lead guitarist John's fingers seem to have a mind of their own, as they seamlessly thrash across the guitar neck song after song. The naturally born guitarist has been strumming since he was just five years old, and beat out hundreds of other guitarists during a state-wide Guitar Center "Guitarmaggedon" competition just a few years back.
Keyboardist Dave has more than 40 years experience in writing, producing, recording and performing, opening for such great acts as the famed Allman Brothers, and his talent really shows on-stage especially while clicking away on the keyboards to some of the greatest rock songs ever made. The musician has also appeared with Jars of Clay, Casting Crowns, Fusebox, Ginny Owens, Eli and Darell Evans.
Guitarist Cindy is truly a gem on the stage. She is well-known for her blonde hair effortlessly blowing around from her stage fan but her talent goes far beyond that. Her soft voice and skilled acoustic guitar perfectly complement Daizy's stage presence, and the two really get the crowd to their feet.
Drummer Rob completes this group of high-energy, highly talented individuals. He's been drumming since he was a youngster, and has opened for such rock greats as Chubby Checker, Toby Keith and Richard Elliot. And, stretching his interest into jazz and fusion makes him even more of a dynamical drummer.
"We've all got this great, natural energy between us," John said. "We really enjoy what we do."
