After-school benefit needs support

January 11, 2012
Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

To the editor:

Hey everyone, it's that time of year to sign up for the second annual Putt & Pub Crawl on Fort Myers Beach!

This year the proceeds are going to Reverend Tafel's and the New Church VIP after-school program for the Beach Kids. We had 160 golfers last year, and we are looking to get over 200 this year - so sign up now!!

Remember, this is goofy golf, everyone can play - 9 holes, 9 bars - 7 hours to complete the course, then dinner and dancing at Uglys (upstairs at Nervous Nellies) with entertainment by Habitat for Harmony - just doesn't get better!

The event is on Saturday, January 21, you may begin any time after 10 a.m., you may "tee off" at any one of the participating hole sponsors if you are pre-registered, you must complete the course and turn in your scorecard by 5 p.m to Nervous Nellie's. The fundraiser costs $125 per 4-person team and includes entry fee for the 9-hole competition, drink specials, raffles, 50/50, buffet dinner and live entertainment.

We are asking everyone to pre-register, but you may do so on the day of the event from 9 to 11 at Nervous Nellie's.

Sign up at any participating hole sponsors (The Beached Whale; The Beach Pierside Grill; Smokin' Oyster Brewery; Mantanzas Inn and Resort; Surf Club; Gulfshore Grill & The Cottage Beach Bar & Grill; Mermaids;,Nervous Nellie's; and Nemo's) or contact Paula Kiker 565-1970 (; Tom Coyne at 815-575-3508 ( or Kelly Chrisien at 603-2807 (

Coming from off the island? No worries, we are working with the Harbor House to get some reduced rates and should have those soon!
