RESIDENTS AND VISITORS are encouraged to spend a day along Main Street, Saturday, Jan. 21, as the third annual Main Street Bazaar and Yard Sale kicks off, offering guests tasty treats, special sales, live music, cook-outs and, of course, some real bargains!
As the holiday season comes to a close, and we all move into a new year, more and more seasonal residents and vacationing visitors making the trip down south. The New Year is upon us. Pre-spring cleaning has begun, letting us all dig in and figure out what stays and what goes including hundreds of seasonal residents within the Main Street communities. After such a great turnout the last two years, the communities of Main Street on San Carlos Island are proudly coming together yet again for their third annual Main Street Bazaar, Business and Yard Sale, taking place Saturday, Jan. 21, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
"Plans have been coming along really well," said Main Street Bazaar coordinator Bill Arendt. "We've been delivering posters all along the island, and rumor has it people are really looking forward to it it's a great time and a great way to save some after-holiday spending."

Bill shows just how super-shoppers can truly spend their day along the street.
"You can start off with a $3 all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast at Oyster Bay RV Park, taking place from 7:30 to 10 a.m.," he said. "For lunch, after shopping through some communities, stop by Port Carlos Cove for a big cook-out and bake sale. After more shopping, you can take a break for cocktails at Big Game, offering happy hour all day through 6 p.m., and then wrap it up at Parrot Key for a nice dinner."
And, be sure to swing by Port Carlos Cove, towards the end of Main St., to catch the groovy sounds of Ron from the Boat Lizards.

What: Several Main Street communities opening the gates for shoppers to findall types of items for sale, as well as bake sales and live music
So, come down, peruse the different communities and special offerings the residents and business owners will have, stay for live music, coffee, donuts, pancake breakfasts and lunch that many of the clubhouses will have, and enjoy finding some great bargains and deals all along the way.
"This is a great way to visit and get to know all of our great businesses and residences of our Main Street community," said Bill Arendt, coordinator of the event. "And don't forget your coolers, so you can buy fresh seafood and shrimp and keep it cool."
Parking will be up and down the street. But, as that can fill up fast, Bill said plenty of off-street parking is available at the entrance to Beach Seafood; across the street from Salty Sam's; and in the field behind Port Carlos Cove's clubhouse.
The first year of the bazaar, Bill estimated about 800 to 900 visitors came to the Main Street community. Nearly twice as many showed up the year after, and he anticipates just as many this year, if not more.
"Many of our Main Street businesses will have special offers, sales and discounts that day, from shrimp to Key West Express trips," he said.
Private residents will be offering anything from collectibles, antiques and knick knacks to clothing, home goods, electronics and so much more.
