Activity Details

One of the nautical joys is figuring out why boats are named as they are. Linda Sturgill, on Feb. 15, will share the discoveries as over 2,000 boats are probed and appreciated on another level beyond just seeing the name.

Conversational Spanish class, meeting on Feb. 16, will find native speaker Wilda Gastelu providing guidance to make more of the Spanish phrases for meeting and greeting fun. Pre-register.

Pre-register and bring your iPad2 to the Going Further with Your IPad2 class on Feb. 17. Class will look at keeping one's contacts, reminders, calendars and photos up-to-date and organized. Will also look at a variety of Apps available.

Book Discussion on Feb. 21 looks at Michael Knight's "The Typist." Expect a large group and gaining some insights beyond what your own reading appreciation has achieved.

Want to try your hand in basic drawing? The class on Feb. 21 will offer practice in a non-threatening environment. Bring a good eraser and paper and soft dark pencil. Jeanette Swenson will offer examples and ideas. Pre-register.

Greeting

A new option in volunteering will be Library Greeter. This person will be at the Welcome Desk (near the entrance) and greet patrons as they come into the entryway. It includes answering questions and referring patrons to appropriate locations within the Library as needed.

It's a pleasure meeting the many and diverse people who use the library and this opportunity gives you a good feel for the comings and goings, and also lends an important service to those who welcome knowing exactly where to go.

Opening

We have posted an opening for a Library Clerk job, 12 hours per week. This is library work assisting in routine library operations. Included are manual and clerical and customer service duties. Must have experience in using the computer today. The position also requires standing during the three four-hour shifts.

Full-time residents and those taking no more than two vacations a year will fit best.

Construction

You've seen the regular progress underway. We are pleased that the project is on schedule and within budget. Achieving both of these highly sought-after goals in any building comes with close work and cooperative communication and work.

A crowd witnessed the raising of the roof onto the tower this week. In addition, the roof insulation and panels are in place for the entire expansion and is ready for the addition of the metal decking in the coming days. More window frames and interior framing will be forthcoming. Scaffolding will be appearing along various walls so stucco can be added to exterior walls. Walls are being roughed in on the second floor and soon drywall will be hung and finished.

Library Hours

When we are closed, a recorder gives the hours of operation, either on 765-8162, or on 765-8163. We look forward to seeing you.
