To the editor:
I have a suggestion related to your recent article in the Beach Observer concerning the traffic congestion on Estero Boulevard.
I am a par-year resident at the south end of FMB, and have observed the traffic dilemma at the Times Square area for several years now. Has anyone ever suggested the possibility of continuing an elevated roadway for a couple of blocks past Times Square when coming down off the bridge?
With an elevated road for a short distance, the "through traffic" could be separated from the local traffic and pedestrians that tend to slow down traffic flow. With the additional property available at this time, part of it could be used for a ground level road to accommodate the traffic in and around Times Square with the "through traffic" staying on the elevated portion and be routed over the congested area.
If you think this makes any sense at all, please pass on the suggestion.
