Parade safety is needed

March 21, 2012
Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

To the editor:

At the shrimp festival parade, there was a very dangerous element that should not have been allowed to occur.

During the parade, a group of mustangs raced engines and screeched wheels burning rubber and endangering all close to this activity.

What if a driver lost control? Who would be liable? What reflection is this on the sheriff who was participating? So many things could have gone wrong. Who approves these participants?

The parade needs to better "police" the participants.
