The Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau welcomes a new member to its staff: Sarah Hollenbeck, communications coordinator.
Hollenbeck will work with the communications department to promote The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel as a visitor destination in various worldwide media outlets including travel publications, consumer print and social networking platforms. She will also assist in establishing and maintaining contact with travel writers worldwide, along with coordinating media research visits in order to facilitate editorial coverage of the destination. The position also involves maintenance of various databases, collateral distribution, and collecting media clips.
As a journalist covering Lee County issues for the past two years, Hollenbeck brings a wealth of knowledge from working closely with the Board of County Commissioners, local tourism businesses, as well as the VCB.
Most recently, Hollenbeck served as the Lee County government and tourism reporter for Waterman Broadcasting's ABC and NBC television affiliates in Fort Myers. In this position, Hollenbeck developed a passion for tourism and environmental issues, as well as government affairs. She has worked on dozens of tourism-related stories, including the Fort Myers Beach re-nourishment project, the Deepwater Horizon oil spill commercial campaign, and the opening of the Boston Red Sox new spring training facility, JetBlue Park.
Hollenbeck also has experience working with several social networking sites, creating interactive online graphics and databases, as well as being skilled in photography and video editing. ?Hollenbeck is the recipient of several Associated Press awards for her work in the journalism field.
She also holds a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
