To the editor:
In opposition to views in letters from Bob Miller and Irene Quiros, I strongly recommend that voters support those directors who have responsibly made the Fort Myers Beach Library a great and friendly cultural institution.
The writers talk only about money, totally ignoring the real value of the library to our quality of life.
Our island has wonderful natural resources: the beaches and spectacular Estero Bay that we much enjoy.
Being home owners here since 1955, we have found that the library has added much to make this island a paradise.
So, to those who belatedly woke up to realize that expanding the library costs money, I urge that their candidates be defeated at the polls.
Disclosure: My dear wife of 70 years, Jean Gottlieb, served one four-year term as a FMB library director during the time of planning the library expansion.
