To the editor:
Let the residents and visitors of Fort Myers Beach be heard about COP in the EC Zone.
I recommend that all interested parties show up at Town Hall on Monday, April 16, at 6:30 p.m., to listen to the second hearing of Ordinance No. 12-03, regulating enlargement of the present Consumption On Premises of alcoholic beverages in the present environmentally critical zone, and the attempt to make it an administrative decision. Let us discuss what zoning areas it should be approved in.
Show up and voice your opinion or our present Town Council will approve it and make it the law of our family friendly beach. Do you want that??????
As it stands right now, it is a zoning procedure and requires approval of the Local Planning Agency. The LPA members have considered it for 4 or 5 years, with a vote being taken every time. They have always said "NO."
As a member of the original LPA, I listened to the residents of our "family friendly island," when they stated that they did not want our island to become an open area for drinking alcohol, beer and other things. I always voted that way. What has changed?????
I will be at the meeting to make my position known. Please join me, and let's get them to accept some modifications to the pending ordinance as written, or continue to use the old one with some minor modification to wording.
