Beach resident reports on son’s service prowess

April 18, 2012
Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

To the editor:

Our family would like to congratulate Sean Houck Conley. He recently was commissioned by the Army as a second lieutenant and graduated at the top of his class as a military police officer.

Sean served seven years in the Marines and had two deployments overseas in Afghanistan and Iraq. He completed training in the new Corp Special Operations battalion and served the Corp with distinction before transferring into the Army to be close to his four children (our grandchildren) and wife. We are very proud of him and wish all our Veterans the best possible for without them we would not enjoy the material abundance and personal freedoms we have in the USA today.

On a personal note, I would like to thank the 70 odd IAF members for helping to celebrate Joe Silva's 90th birthday, Barbara Evan's 76th and Karen Mills' 50th. The potluck food was over the top and the band (Vince, Andy, Tremble, Woody and myself) had a ball entertaining, especially Joe's impromptu burlesque number! We are off to our new theater on the lake but look forward to seeing everyone next season.
