After years of anticipation, Zoomers' grand opening day is coming up closer and closer, with plans holding steady to open the first week of June. Since our feature story on Southwest Florida's newest theme park a few weeks ago, the staff continues putting the wheels in motion, completing several projects and coming close to completion on others.
"We are very happy to say that we have been moving at a very quick pace now," said Zoomer's sales manager and eight-year Fort Myers Beach resident Will Sohner. "The landscaping is almost completely done, all of the cement work is now completed on the property, the rollercoaster is up, all of the rails have been inserted on the slick track and very close to operation, all of the Midway rides are now fully operational, Voodoo Island mini golf course is nearing completion, all arcade games have been brought in, and the cement and gate that protects the bumper boats have been put in place."
Will also shared the latest attraction at the park a laser tag field!
According to Zoomers’ Will Sohner, plans continue to go along smoothly, with opening day within the first week of June. A job fair will be held through Thursday, May 10, from 9 to 11 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Photo by MELISSA SCHNEIDER.
"We've now added a laser tag filed, consisting of more than two acres of trees, landscaping, barriers and obstacles," Will said. "This is the perfect attraction for individuals and fun team-building exercises, which will be open day and night."
Will said he plans to host unforgettable laser tag games, like Capture the Flag, Disable the Bomb, Protect the VIP and others.
"We're so eager to open to the public. The first week in June is still our target, and we just can't wait," Will said.
Zoomer's will be hosting a job fair twice a day through Thursday, May 10: from 9 to 11 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. All applications must be filled out in person to ages 16 and up. The park will be hiring as many as 75 employees over the next several weeks, with such positions available as guest services, ride operators, go-kart attendants and party hosts.
Staff training will begin soon, and within the next couple of weeks, the staff will be able to announce a firm opening date, once they see the final stages and the finishing touches of construction take place.
When the park is complete, it will offer kids and adults of all ages all types of fun and games. From bumper boats, famous Midway rides, laser tag and Voodoo Island mini golf to two brand-new go-kart tracks, a full arcade, concession stands and an all-ages roller coaster, Zoomer's will certainly offer something for everyone.
The theme park is also continuing to accept group bookings and reservations for parties and other private functions. Call 481-9666 (ZOOM).
