May 16, 2012
Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

The fifth annual Fourth of July Parade will stream down Estero Boulevard in less than two months. Now is the time to get entered.

The Fort Myers Beach Civic Association is also seeking more sponsors and volunteers for this year's event. If you'd like to become a sponsor or volunteer at the staging area or to sell raffle tickets, call parade Chairman Dennnis Boback at 462-8798. You can also call Dennis if you didn't get a parade application in the mail. Applications are also available in the May edition of Tidelines. The parade begins at the Beach Elementary School at 10 a.m. Participants and volunteers should be there by 8:30 a.m.

Sponsors already signed up for this year's parade are The Mermaid Lounge and Liquors, The Yucatan Grill and Beach Stand, The Lighthouse Resort, Pink Shell Beach Resort and Spa, DiamondHead Beach Resort and Spa, Mango Bay, Winds, Charley's Boat House, the Surf Club and the Beached Whale

This year's Miss Florida, Cassandra Mandeville, will be here to join in the day's fun. The award ceremony for parade entry winners will be held at the Mermaid Lounge and Liquors shortly after the parade. The Town's spectacular fireworks show will begin around 9 p.m. at Lynn Hall Park.
