To the editor:
Attention Fort Myers Beach business owners. We would like to give all our "local businesses" the opportunity to be involved in our annual Blessing Of The Fleet event.
As you know, our shrimp industry is a well-known attraction on Fort Myers Beach.
Every year, we celebrate with our "local fisherman" to support them and celebrate the "wild American shrimp" that they bring to our island. We schedule this event around the full moon so most of our vessels will be at the dock. This event is not to be confused with The Lion's Club annual event. We support them in their annual event as well, but our event is based around our local fishing industry.
The shrimp industry partners, Trico Shrimp, Erickson & Jensen and Beach Seafood along with Ostego Bay Foundation, plan and fund the event.
We would like to see more of our local businesses involved. We are always looking for sponsors. By sponsoring our event you will be advertised on the radio and on our annual banner. You can get involved by making a donation of $50 or $100, donating a raffle item, a discounted meal, hotel/motel room, event ticket, etc.
You can also join the fun by simply having a vendor spot at our event. A vendor spot is only $10.
Most of all, we would jut like to see our local businesses and residents attend the event and support our local fishing industry.
The annual "Blessing Of The Fleet" is Sunday, Feb. 24 this year. It will be held at 1100 Shrimp Boat Lane on San Carlos Island. Call 239-765-1828 for more information.
