A salute to Hickey

February 20, 2013
Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

To the editor:

Hickey Silfer passed away on Feb. 13, He was a great man, avid volunteer and a true friend.

Only after getting over the absolute shock of the loss of a friend do the memories come back. Hickey was a great person and would volunteer at the drop of a hat. He was famous for his frog legs, which he loved to cook. Within the "Little Club" and private clubs of the area, he was well known for this and would get crowds of people who wanted to enjoy his fine cuisine. We would run into him and Michelle every now and again at one of the clubs.

He ALWAYS greeted us with a smile from ear to ear. He enjoyed life and was devoted to his friends. I know the first thing he did when he got to the pearly gates was to ask when he could put on a frog leg cook out!

Hickey, you will truly be missed.

Your friend,

Joe "Moose" Kosinski
