To the editor:
I read in last week's Beach Observer about how Commissioner Larry Kiker has called a moratorium on impact fees on small businesses in our area, suspending those fees before a business can open its doors.
I was STUNNED!!!! And very surprised that our local government would do something positive for its businesses for a change!!!!
I know there are a lot of naysayers on the impact moratorium, and who want nothing but big government fees, regulations and permits to punish local businesses here, and ALL I can say to these Naysayers is, "You must never had started a business of ANY kind, ever."
I know a handful of businesses that didn't start up at all, just because of these very expensive impact fees, and I cannot congratulate Commissioner Kiker more for making such a wise move in tight economic times. Very wise indeed.
It will encourage new local businesses here. It is good for the economy and good for jobs. For once, our local politicians have done something GREAT for our small business owners.
Thank You, Commissioner Larry Kiker.
