In the aftermath of destruction, in which two days of tornadoes roared through Oklahoma, relief agencies around the country are mobilizing to render aid. To assist with these efforts, a Southwest Florida running and specialized shoe store, Foot Solutions of Estero, is collecting gently new or gently used shoes to donate to tornado victims.
"This was such a tragic event that caused so many people to lose absolutely everything," said Chris Cole, Owner, Foot Solutions Estero. "Many were left with only the clothing on their back, and may or may not have even had shoes on their feet. Although shoes only contribute a small portion to the needs of these victims, we wanted to take the opportunity to help in some way. With all of the rubble left scattered from the storms, it is more important than ever for people to have proper footwear."
Foot Solutions will be donating the collected shoes to Florida's Southern Gulf Region of the American Red Cross, as well as the non-profit organization Soles4Souls.
Where to donate: Bring new or gently used shoes to Foot Solutions of Estero in the Corkscrew Village Shopping Center, on the corner of Corkscrew Road and U.S. 41 (next to Publix).
