Safeguard Your spring break

February 27, 2014
Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

Spring Break Season is on the horizon and begins Friday night. The Lee County Sheriff's Office would like to remind everyone to lock their vehicle doors and roll up their windows. Taking time to lock doors and close windows can prevent you from becoming a crime victim.

In addition to locking doors, remember "out of sight, out of mind." Do not leave valuables on the seats of your vehicle. Take time to remove valuables and safely store them inside your home. Don't hesitate to report suspicious activity to law enforcement. You can reach the Sheriff's Office at 477-1000 or, for a potential crime in progress, dial 9-1-1.

Also, if you're staying in a hotel, be sure to secure your valuables. If your hotel has a safe you can use to secure those items, take advantage of it. Other safety tips include park in well-lit areas, removing valuables or placing them in the trunk and removing 'pull-out" style radio face plates.

We want everyone to have an enjoyable stay when visiting Southwest Florida and following these simple crime prevention tips will help you in doing so.
