Giving Thanks -- Enjoying your Thanksgiving holiday on Fort Myers Beach

As we near Thanksgiving, we think of all we are thankful for. Perhaps it's our health, perhaps our family, perhaps where we live or who we live it with maybe a combination of all of those things! Those looking to celebrate Thanksgiving on Fort Myers Beach have a nice selection of local eateries to select from. Whether you're looking to enjoy a nice sit-down, plated meal or one that is buffet-style, you can't go wrong on this seven-mile island.

Parrot Key Caribbean Grill

Parrot Key Caribbean Grill will be open for Thanksgiving from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., offering a very special holiday dinner, serving both traditional and Caribbean spiced turkey meals with all of the fixings. Homemade pumpkin pie will be served up for dessert, or enjoy any of the restaurant's other savory sweets. The holiday meals are $25. Reservations are recommended.

Bootleggers Waterfront BBQ

Bootleggers BBQ?will be open regular hours Thanksgiving to allow guest to enjoy watching the football games playing throughout the day. They'll also be serving a special smoked turkey dinner, as well as its regular menu. For the holiday meal, reservations are recommended.

The Lani Kai's Island View

The Lani Kai is eager to host its traditional Thanksgiving buffet atop the Island View, from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Loaded with plenty of delicious traditional entrees, sides and desserts, the cost is $24.95 for adults, $10.95 for children under 12.

Gulfshore Grill

Gulfshore Grill is offering a lovely sit-down Thanksgiving menu, featuring a traditional turkey dinner with traditional stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy and homemade cranberry sauce. Or order the prime rib of beef meal, with mashed potatoes and gravy; or the triple play shrimp, with three types of shrimp, with long-grain rice. Each meal also includes a trip to the salad bar, steamed vegetables, fresh baked bread, and a choice of pumpkin, cherry or apple pie for dessert.

Seating times are noon, 2:30, 5 and 7:30 p.m., and reservations are needed. Call to book your spot(s). Adults are $19.95, children 12 and under are $9.95.

The New Vinyls will begin playing at The Cottage that night at 9 p.m.

Nervous Nellie's

Nervous Nellie's is offering a wealth of holiday specials Thanksgiving day. Choose from the vast selection of menu items, including but not limited to crabmeat stuffed artichoke dip, baked twin lobster tails, famous seafood pasta and much more. Three traditional Thanksgiving platters will be offered, as well, including the Roast Tom turkey with all the complementary trimmings, baked Nueske ham with all the complementary trimmings, and the herb-crusted prime rib meal, again, served with all of its well-complementing trimmings. Not sure between those three? Try the Thanksgiving Holiday salad.

The restaurant will be open normal business hours, and reservations will not be accepted, so walk on in and sit on down.

Nick and Stella's

Nick and Stella's is proud to be open Thanksgiving day, offering a traditional sit-down meal, featuring roast turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, candied yams, cranberry sauce, homemade dressing and pumpkin pie.

The meals will begin at noon and go all day until they run out. Reservations are currently being accepted. If you don't feel like dining in, the restaurant is offering catering, as well. Call 466-9493.
