Special project coordinator named

March 8, 2016
By John Morton ( , Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

The firm to represent Fort Myers Beach's need for a special projects coordinator is Parker/Mudgett/Smith Architects, it was announced Monday.

The Nov. 30 arrival of the Grand Resorts downtown redevelopment proposal prompted the town to decide to have representation for major requests. The Fort Myers-based firm was selected recently after the town contacted 12 potential firms. Jeff Mudgett will be the contact person, but his father, Bill Mudgett, will also be involved in the consulting.

"We asked him not to retire until after this project is done," said Town Manager Don Stilwell of Bill Mudgett. "He knows it's of that much importance. They've already told us that this will be their big priority."

Until an application from Grand Resorts arrives on the town's desk, not work will take place. Thus, the process is on hold. The fees have yet to be determined either, and where the town will get the money hasn't been determined. The special projects coordinator position is not a budgeted item.
