Love for Bruce Day was a huge success
To the Editor:
We were proud to have donated about 500 punds of non-perishable food and $3,305 for the Harry Chapin Food Bank in memory of Bruce Cermak at the First Annual LOVE for BRUCE DAY held at the Surf Club. We could not have done this without the help of a very dedicated crew and special volunteers.
The list is long so I will use first names : Mitch, Mary, Dawn, Jessica N., Jessica V., Trich, Cheryl, Will, Breadman, Nancy, Popeye; All our great 16 musicians of the day, led by Tommy V and Jo List; Liza and Jessie at Surf Club for hosting the event and donating the Chicago Dogs; Print Shop, Ink; Gary and Carolyn to start us off with their beautiful posters and fliers; the help of our newspapers for helping promote this first ever event: Melissa at the Beach Bulletin, Gary at the Island Sand Paper, Bobby at the Sun Bay; and of course to all our local businesses that hung our posters and showed such generosity in donating items for our raffle (Thank you Dawn Gaylor for your efforts). Bobs Top End T-shirts keep Bruce's memory alive.
Last but not least, a special thanks to the hundreds of guest that came out that day with their kind donations and time. We hope everyone had a great time! Please feel free to post ideas on the Love for Bruce Facebook page for next years second annual, it is sure to be better yet!
